On our first day of editing, we had to connect the Canon XM2 DV Camera to the Apple iMac. We did this by hooking up a fire wire cable to the camera and into the iMac. The program we used to capture the footage was Final Cut Express 4. The capturing was very time consuming and required a lot of patients. However as for me I wasn’t familiar with the software and didn’t know how to capture, so this was a learning experience for me as my team members taught me.
As a group before we recorded, we knew that we wanted our footage to be 16:9 so that it would give it a filmic quality. When the footage has finally been captured we could tell that we had made a excellent decision and we were very happy with the outcome. Once the footage had finally been captured which took approximately 30 minutes, Final Cut Express 4 then prepared different clips from the recorded footage into our project which then allowed us to drag it onto the timeline.
Hyder also taught me how to add affects onto some footage which I personally think was really interesting. The reason why I thought it was affective was due to the fact of the colour correction really gave us a sense of the supernatural theme. We added a blue tint towards the video and added contrast to make the colour stand our more and project our theme.
Overall as a group we believe that the decisions that we have made have been very successful and we will carry on to, edit in our next lesson.
